What are carbon badges?
When you go on a BootyNet website, you will see a carbon badge. This badge shows the amount of CO2 used by each page visit on BootyNet.
What do these badges look like?
BootyNet carbon badges look like this:
Note on green hosting
BootyNet websites run behind a mix of AWS and Cloudflare. Cloudflare is recognized as green hosting by default. AWS isn’t, since most AWS regions don’t run on renewable energy, but BootyNet specifically uses AWS regions that do, including the NZ region.
The badge tool doesn’t currently account for this. So some BootyNet badges may show “hosting not verified green,” even on sites running on renewable-powered infrastructure.
